Jun-sik, Jun-cheol, Jun-ho and Sun-ok are war orphans. As their orphanage is disbanded, the nanny, Miss Park, becomes the children’s mother and forms a family of five. Jun-ho and his mother Miss Park go to work to earn money while Jun-sik and Jun-cheol concentrate on studying. One day, Jun-sik accidentally kills a person. Jun-ho turns himself to the police instead and is sentenced to two years in prison. Despite the fact that Jun-sik and Jun-cheol studied abroad in the U.S. and got good jobs when they returned to Korea, they did not look after their mother. Jun-ho is released from prison in seven years and hears the news about his brothers. He ends up going back to prison after stealing for his mother’s 60th birthday. Detective Yun hears about Jun-ho’s story and gives him part of his salary as support, Jun-ho must still leave his mother to stand in court. His brothers finally realize their wrong doings and cry for forgiveness.||전쟁고아인 준식, 준철, 준호, 순옥 등은 고아원이 해산되면서 보모 박씨를 어머니로 모시고 한집안 식구가 되어 생활하게 된다. 어린 준호와 어머니 박씨가 버는 돈으로 준식과 준철은 학업에 열중한다. 그러던 어느날 준식이 실수로 사람을 죽이자 어린 준호는 대신 자수하여 2년형을 선고받고 복역한다. 그간 준식과 준철은 미국 유학까지 마치고 훌륭한 사회인으로 출세했으면서도 어머니를 돌보지 않는다. 7년만에 출옥하며 이러한 사실을 안 준호는 어머니 환갑잔치를 치루기 위해 다시 물건을 훔치다 체포된다. 이러한 사정을 들은 수사관 윤주임은 자신의 봉급을 털어 준호를 위로한다. 그러나 준호는 다시 법의 심판을 받기 위해 어머니 곁을 떠나며 그제야 정신을 차린 형들이 찾아와 눈물로 사죄한다.
